In the Middle School years, The Gateway Virtual Academy program focuses on helping students to become increasingly independent learners and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond.
Deepening Core Skills; Exploring New Interests
In Grades 6–8, Gateway Virtual Academy students deepen their knowledge and skills in four core subjects: English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Following our meticulously detailed Learning Manuals and lesson plans, Calvert parents help their students:
- Develop independent learning strategies and study skills.
- Deepen their reading comprehension and writing skills while exploring classic literature.
- Learn advanced math concepts in preparation for higher level math courses.
- Begin exploring physical, life, and earth sciences through scientific inquiry and engineering design.
- Explore the geography, culture, and politics of the world around them.
